Catherine Schloegel is delighted to be back in her hometown, Boulder, and doing her favorite thing, hugging trees. She earned a Master of Environmental Science from Yale University and worked on tropical conservation in Latin American for 12 years. These days she’s passionate about her work on climate adaptation and forests in Colorado with The Nature Conservancy.

Joe Middleton

Secretary

Joe Middleton is a Colorado environmental attorney with a practice focused on issues arising under federal and state environmental laws including Superfund, RCRA, the Clean Water Act and the cleanup and redevelopment of environmentally challenged properties. His clients range from private developers to local governments and Good Samaritans.

 
 
 

Kate Ryan

board member

Kate has lived in the Boulder Watershed since 1999, when she moved here to study arctic climate at the University of Colorado. After working as an associate scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center, she went to Berkeley Law to look for law and policy solutions for our changing climate. She has been practicing water law ever since, and she is now the senior staff attorney and director of programs for the Colorado Water Trust, an organization that restores flow to Colorado rivers. Kate has an awesome family with a partner, two kids, and two dogs who like to adventure in the Boulder Watershed almost as much as she does.

Kate Dunlap

Kate Dunlap is the Source Water Quality Program Manager for the City of Boulder. To protect and preserve the city's source water quality, she collaborates across sectors, analyzes environmental data, and communicates results to inform special projects and policies, and educates staff and customers about their drinking water. Prior to joining the city, Kate worked in the private sector on water resource management and lake restoration projects across the country. Kate and her family enjoy camping, scootering around the neighborhood, and doing puzzles.

 
 
 

Kelsey Lesniak

board member

Kelsey is the new Open Space Manager for the City of Louisville, working with the Parks & Rec Department. In this role, she oversees staff in Natural Resources, Trails & Maintenance, and the Rangers. In her previous role, Kelsey worked 8 years with the Colorado State Forest Service as a Forester with the Boulder Field Office, primarily helping private landowners and land managers across Boulder & Gilpin Counties achieve their forest health and fire mitigation goals. Kelsey earned her B.S. in Forestry, with a specialization in Forest Resource Management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. After graduating college, she moved to Colorado in 2012 to pursue a lifetime dream of working in Natural Resource Management in the Western US. Kelsey loves to cook, mountain bike, hike, snowboard, and enjoy all the activities Colorado has to offer.

 
 
 

Eric Kennedy

board member

Eric is a recent transplant to the Boulder watershed. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in the Geography department at CU Boulder, researching snow hydrology and forest ecosystems as part of the Mountain Hydrology Group at the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research. He also works for the Four Mile Fire Protection District as a wildland specialist and squad leader. As an avid skier, cyclist, and climber, he is passionate about public land conservation and access.

 
 
 

Stefan Reinold

board member

As Resource Management Division Manager for Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS), Stefan Reinold leads a division made up of six disciplines/work groups: Education and Outreach, Resource Protection, Wildlife, Forestry, Plant Ecology, and Invasive Weeds. The Resource Management Division uses and interdisciplinary approach to protect and conserve the natural resources on the 66,619 acres owned by BCPOS through advocacy and active management. Before taking this role in early 2022, Stefan lead the Forestry and Fire work group at BCPOS for seven years. This work involved planning, preparation, and implementation of forest management activities such as forest thinning, fuels reduction, forest restoration, and prescribed fire. Prior to joining the County in 2014, Stefan ran his own forestry consulting firm for twelve years and was a research associate at CSU for two years. Stefan has a Master’s degree in Forest Management from Colorado State University and is a Certified Forester through the Society of American Foresters. Stefan is an avid skier, hiker, and mountain biker, and always up for an adventure.
